About the Role

The Facilities Manager plays a critical role within Sydney Airport's Facilities & Asset Management Division, enabling the safe, reliable and efficient operation of SYD's fire & HVAC infrastructure, along with the diverse portfolio of buildings. The role sits within the Engineering Services Team and contributes directly to the stakeholder and passenger experience, as well as operational continuity.

The role is responsible for managing the performance, compliance and lifecycle of base building assets across a portfolio, working closely with service providers and internal stakeholders to deliver predictable, high‑quality outcomes. It offers the opportunity to influence how assets are maintained and optimised across a complex compliance-driven operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance and maintenance of a portfolio of buildings and base building assets
  • Lead the coordination of preventative and corrective maintenance activities across multiple sites to maintain operational continuity
  • Monitor asset performance, budgets and contract deliverables against agreed outcomes
  • Partner with project and operational teams to improve asset reliability and optimise lifecycle outcomes
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service partners to support service outcomes
  • Manage Fire and HVAC maintenance contractors to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable service delivery

About You

  • Demonstrated experience managing facilities and/or base building assets across a portfolio of buildings
  • Proven capability managing Fire and HVAC contractors within a live operational environment
  • Strong understanding of contract management and service performance frameworks
  • Ability to balance safety, compliance, operational and commercial requirements achieving agreed outcomes
  • Well‑developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build effective working relationships
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder and/or highly regulated environments
