The Role

As a Senior Managing Valuer, you will be based in our Commercial & Special Valuations team where you'll manage a team of valuers in the delivery of complex valuation programs that support government decision-making, financial reporting and strategic property outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to gain exposure and work in our other statutory valuation teams throughout the year.

You'll provide expert advice on complex valuation matters, lead continuous improvement initiatives, manage valuation risk, oversee contracted valuation services and support the development of organisational capability. Working closely with government, industry and community stakeholders, you'll help ensure valuation services continue to meet legislative obligations, community expectations and best-practice standards.

About You

• Extensive valuation leadership experience, including the ability to manage a team to deliver multiple programs of valuations
• Strong strategic thinking and leadership capability, with experience building organisational capability, leading change and driving continuous improvement
• Outstanding communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical advice for diverse audiences

Essential Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification that contributes to accreditation with the API or RICS
• Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) with the Australian Property Institute or MRICS accreditation with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, or eligibility to obtain within 12 months of employment
• Current driver licence and willingness to travel

About Value NSW

Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivers the valuation system for rating and taxing as well as compulsory acquisition compensation purposes via delegation of the Valuer General of NSW.

Key responsibilities include:

• Making more than 2.7 million residential, rural, commercial and industrial valuations annually, with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement, totalling over $1 billion per annum
• Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum – receiving up to 50,000 calls and many more enquiries
• Monitoring, assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991

In addition, VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners – including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurer's Directions as well as sector wide asset valuations of up to around $700 billion for financial accounting purposes.
