Business Development Manager

This role sits within our Distribution team, which is the Advisor-facing part of CFS. The Business Development Manager reports to the State Manager VIC. The purpose of the BDM role is to own growth outcomes, both within our most important existing firms and across new business opportunities in the market.
You will drive revenue, inflows, and adviser engagement by partnering with financial advisers, licensees and practices to help them grow, improve efficiency, and effectively use the company's investment and platform solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Manage, retain, and grow a defined panel of financial advisers and practices.
- Conduct regular face-to-face and virtual meetings to understand business needs, goals, and pain points.
- Serve as the primary contact for all commercial, service, or platform-related discussions.
- Drive net inflow targets across platform, managed accounts, and investment products.
- Identify new opportunities and convert prospects to active users of the platform.
- Support advisers in transitioning client books, migrating assets, and adopting new features.
- Facilitate workshops, webinars, and strategic planning sessions for practices.
- Provide input to product teams on adviser feedback, platform enhancements, and market insights.
- Develop and execute a structured territory plan aligned to national distribution strategy.
- Track competitor offerings and provide timely intelligence to internal stakeholders.
Your Capability and Experience
- Solid experience in wealth management, platform distribution, or adviser-facing financial services roles.
- Strong understanding of financial advice process, wealth platforms, investment products, and advice tech.
- Proven ability to grow new business and retain adviser relationships in a competitive market.
- Ability to translate market intelligence into real growth opportunities.
- Able to deliver structured practice-development conversations and business analysis.
- Trusted adviser capable of building deep, long-term relationships.
- Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to interpret data, business metrics, and inflow pipelines.
- RG146 compliant.
- Exceptional business and commercial acumen.

Location and Requirements
This role is based on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung land (Melbourne, VIC).
CFS requires all candidates to have full work rights in Australia.
