Business Development Manager – Life Sciences

Compensation and Location

Compensation Range: $136,000 - $204,000 per year (includes base pay and short-term incentive)

Position Type: Full-time, hybrid at Raleigh, NC hub

Travel: Up to 50% per year required

About the Role

Working within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) Organization, you will coordinate and drive sales and marketing activities for Schneider Electric at a global level, covering the Food & Beverage and Life Sciences segments. This position is responsible for Business Development within assigned territories in Life Sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Define and formalize a strategic Business Development plan and tailored value proposition for assigned territories in close collaboration with the Segment Leader/Strategic Marketing and the Segment President.
  • Ensure execution of the plan regionally and locally, working closely with targeted Operations (Zone, Cluster and Country) for the Life Science Segment and stakeholders in Line of Businesses and Specialist go-to-market (GTM) Organizations.
  • Support Sales with coaching visits as a subject matter expert, bringing measurable business value to customer executives.
  • Work with Regional Operations (Zone, Cluster and Country) CPG segment leaders to develop action and sales plans, define and measure targets/KPIs for locally targeted strategic customers of the sub-segment.
  • Attend and contribute to the success of sector fairs where Schneider Electric presence is considered strategic for boosting sales of the sub-segment.
  • Develop and acquire new customers for Schneider Electric group and increase wallet share with existing customers.
  • Continuously screen the Subsegment Ecosystem to identify the right partners and GTM approaches to drive growth within assigned territory.
  • Support the Subsegment Leader, BDMs and other team members in the CPG Organization in strategic work by sharing best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Preferably Engineering studies
  • Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience in Strategic Sales or Business Development in the Life Sciences Industry with international exposure
  • CPG Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of the CPG industry, its trends, and the extended ecosystem (OEMs, EPCs, Integrators) with ability to define targeted localized strategies and associated messaging
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Recognized subject matter expert in Life Sciences
  • Technical Knowledge: Good knowledge of Process and Facilities associated with Life Sciences and ability to transfer this into value proposition
  • Language: Fluent English (spoken, written) – Additional languages beneficial but not essential
  • Regional Travel: Up to 50% required

  • Understanding of CPG, especially Life Sciences value proposition; ability to see how new offers and adaptations can contribute to wider and stronger Subsegment Value Proposition and how initiatives could support differentiation and growth.
  • Openness and experience in matrix leadership with other Business Units/Lines of Business/product departments; ability to influence product and solution roadmaps.
  • Experience in Business Model development and adaptation to market trends.
  • Experience interacting on different levels in multi-national organizations (global, regional, and local).
  • High creativity and innovative mindset.
  • Strong Team player with ability to motivate and drive cross-functional teams.
  • Capacity to work in complex business matrix.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, organizational, and influencing skills.
  • Proven commercial management skills of strategic accounts and complex markets.
  • Proven commercial success in acquiring new customers, business, and market share.
  • Orientation towards results and medium-long term strategic vision.
  • Consultative approach capable of communicating with clients' executives.
  • Ability to deal with multiple priorities and challenges in urgencies.
  • Ability and interest to work in diverse cultures.

Reporting

You will report to the Consumer-Packaged Goods Segment President.
