About the Opportunity

The Facilities Manager leads the delivery and continuous improvement of facilities management services across the University campus, ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of the built environment and surrounding grounds. The role oversees a broad portfolio of services, including maintenance, cleaning, security, fire safety, traffic management, waste services, hygiene, pest control, space management, and specialist contracted services.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for managing the transition of new and refurbished facilities into business-as-usual operations, provides strategic oversight of contracts and service providers, and drives the review and optimisation of operational plans, policies, processes, and systems to enhance service performance and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and review of Campus Life plans, policies, procedures, and operational frameworks
  • Lead and monitor the performance of the Facilities team and contractors to ensure compliance with asset management standards and support University operations
  • Analyse performance data and business metrics to improve asset condition, maintenance, cleaning standards, service delivery, and contractor performance, providing insights and reports to stakeholders
  • Develop operational and capital works programs in collaboration with the Asset Manager
  • Partner with Capital Works and Engineering Services teams to support new and refurbishment projects from planning through to handover, ensuring operational requirements are met
  • Manage facilities budgets and resources to achieve business objectives effectively and efficiently
  • Support the planning and coordination of campus shutdowns, site access, traffic management, and safety during construction activities
  • Lead emergency response and business continuity activities across the campus
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, customer service excellence, and consistent service delivery across teams and campuses
  • Manage contractor relationships and ensure contractual obligations, quality standards, and University requirements are met
  • Promote ethical conduct, integrity, and compliance with the University's Fraud and Corruption Control Framework
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, University policies, and health, safety, and equity requirements

About You

  • Extensive management experience and expertise, including at least five years' experience in facilities management across hard and soft services, together with project management experience in the construction industry
  • Experience in the education sector, including supporting events, customer-facing services, and stakeholder engagement
  • Full unrestricted Australian work rights required
  • May be subject to a National criminal history check

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing opportunity primarily based at our Brisbane City (South Bank) campus. As Griffith is a multi-site university, you may be required to work across other locations.

Salary

HEW 10 Salary – Base - $147,057.74 + 17% superannuation. Full package is $172,057.55.
