About Department of Communities and Justice

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is a department of the Government of New South Wales, Australia, responsible for delivering services to disadvantaged individuals, families and communities and for administering the state's legal and justice system. It provides services to children and young people, families, people who are homeless, people with disability and their carers, women, and older people, and is the lead agency of the Stronger Communities Cluster. It was formed on 1 July 2019 when the NSW Government brought together the former Department of Family and Community Services and the former Department of Justice.
