Property Accountant / Team Leader Finance

About the role

We are seeking a Property Accountant to join our Asset Management Services Team on a full-time, statewide basis. Based in Hobart, this role supports the delivery of property accounting services across the Asset Management Services Team in Tasmania, ensuring our clients' property accounting requirements are met accurately, efficiently, and to a high standard.

In this leadership role, you will drive operational excellence by overseeing day-to-day team performance, ensuring the integrity of financial systems and processes, and maintaining compliance with trust accounting and reporting requirements. You will play a key role in fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and enhancing service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Asset Management Services Team, you will be responsible for:

• Providing advice and support to the Asset Managers in relation to financial reporting
• Leading the preparation and delivery of month-end and year-end property financial reporting, including accruals, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and reconciliations
• Leading, coaching and developing a team responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, lease administration and other functions supporting the Asset Management Services business
• Overseeing the timely and accurate processing of a high-volume of supplier and tenant invoices and financial transactions within a Trust Accounting environment
• Monitoring team workloads, performance and service delivery to ensure key objectives, service standards and performance indicators are achieved
• Maintaining the integrity of financial and property administration data across payment, reconciliations, trust accounting and property management systems
• Identifying and implementing process, control and system improvements to enhance operational efficiency, compliance and stakeholder outcomes
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, proactively managing and resolving escalated issues and discrepancies
• Providing technical accounting advice, guidance and support to team members and internal stakeholders
• Ensuring compliance with audit, trust accounting and statutory requirements, and contributing to broader business improvement initiatives
• Other duties as required by the Head of Asset Management Services Tasmania

About you

To succeed at Elders, you will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
• CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification (or progress towards completion) — will be highly regarded
• Previous experience leading or supervising a finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable or similar financial services team
• Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop team members
• Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder management and written communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office software and financial accounting systems
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Highly developed organisational and time management skills
• A collaborative leadership style and a can-do attitude
• Experience driving process improvement and operational excellence
