Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the successful management of a major utilities organisation's head office in Sydney's inner city. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will work collaboratively with both client and BGIS teams to deliver exceptional facilities management services, meet contractual obligations, and ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
As this role is embedded within the client's site, it is highly client facing and plays an important part in maintaining a positive, professional, and responsive service experience. You will also provide additional support services including front-of-house assistance and fire warden duties.
The ideal candidate will be organised, personable, and customer focused, with strong technical knowledge, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a genuine commitment to delivering quality outcomes in a busy, people-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial performance including budgeting, invoicing, payments, and
debtor management in line with agreed targets.
- Manage contract delivery, ensuring KPIs are met and coordinating
subcontractors and suppliers in line with contract requirements.
- Manage responsive work orders, ensuring correct allocation, quoting, and
compliance with BGIS Procurement Policy.
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities as a site subject
matter expert, ensuring statutory and contractual compliance.
- Conduct regular building inspections, asset condition assessments, and vendor
escorting.
- Manage Annual Fire Safety Statements, including vendor coordination, PPM
delivery, and certification.
- Oversee building sustainability initiatives, including NABERS rating
requirements and performance targets.
- Coordinate the operation, maintenance, and compliance of adjoining substation
infrastructure.
- Build positive client relationships through exceptional service delivery,
reporting, and open communication.
- Perform fire warden duties and provide front-of-house support as required.
- Support and mentor team members while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with BGIS's HSEQ Management System and participate in
safety and risk initiatives.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience delivering integrated Facilities Management, Property
Management, or related services.
- Experience managing maintenance activities, subcontractor procurement, and
service delivery.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, invoicing, and contract
financial management.
- Experience with QA, WHS, and environmental systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and
Outlook, and CMMS platforms.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable:
- Experience in collaborative or alliance contracting and legislative
maintenance requirements.
- Experience with sustainability, ESD, energy, or NABERS initiatives.
- Trade qualification (Mechanical/Electrical) and Post Trade qualification
(Engineering Certificate/Associate Diploma).
- Experience within corporate head office, utilities, or client-facing
environments.
- Fire Warden training or willingness to obtain.
